After I graduated from college in Virginia in 1980, I secured a teaching job in Spotsylvania County and worked at Battlefield Middle School for 17 years. While I was there I met my husband Norman, who was also a teacher. Norman eventually left teaching for the sporting goods industry which is what brought us to Charlotte.

We have four children. Our oldest, Lindsey graduated from UNC in 2009, she is a graphic designer living in Cary, with her husband, Michael. Ashley, is a 2012 graduate of Appalachian State and she is a 5th grade teacher in Union County. She and her husband, Tyler live in Union County. Our third daughter, Hayley, is a 2013 graduate of UNC, also. She works with banking software/security in Raleigh. Finally our son Austin is a senior at NCState, majoring in nutrition.

In my spare time I love to read, watch movies, work in my yard, walk my dog (Dobby), and most of all be with my family. Our favorite vacation spots are Long Beach Island, on the New Jersey Shore and Lake Wateree in South Carolina.

I am now in my 34th year of teaching middle school. I have 33 hours post-grad in math and math education. I really enjoy the subject and like to make up songs, rhymes, and stories to help my students remember key math concepts.
